Tired of the same old painting classes? Get creative and discover your own vision by experimenting with collage and mixed media painting. Explore your options in these fun, relaxing and educational classes. Each class includes a painting demonstration, painting time for students, and a critique. Design concepts, color theory and painting technique will be thoroughly covered. All levels, including beginners, are welcome. The class is designed for adults. See the supply list at the bottom of this page.
Dates & Time
The 2008 classes meet the third Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm. The cost is $50 per class.
January 17 - No more wimpy paintings. Put attitude into your painting by using strong darks.
February 21 - Understanding Scale. Bigger really IS better.
March 20 - Get compliments on your paintings by using complimentary color.
April 17 - Knock 'em dead at 20 paces by using good design.
May 15 - Be your own best critic. Understanding what went wrong. . . and how to fix it.
Location
Classes are be held at the Artists' Showplace, 15615 Coit Road,
Dallas, TX 75248. The gallery is located in Spanish Village on the

Recommended Supplies
- 9" x 12" or 12" x 12" canvas or canvas board
- 1" flat brush
- #12 round brush
- Acrylic paint in your favorite colors
- Large Strathmore disposable palette pad
- Gesso
- Matte Medium
- Water-based crayons and other drawing material
- Plastic water container
- Roll of paper towels
- 1" Masking tape
- Scissors
Additional
- black & white (not color!) photocopies of your own photos in small, medium and large sizes.
- Found papers -- tickets, receipts, letters, postcards, old paintings and
drawings, rice and tissue paper, candy wrappers, gold foil, maps, patterned
paper, wallpaper, craft paper, marblized paper, newspapers, labels,
envelopes, graphs, signage, postage, old books, calendar pages, theatre
tickets, caligraphy, matchbook covers, foreign printed material, docments,
engravings, magazines, money, games, Dover Clip Art books - anything you find
interesting! You can use a black & white photocopy if you don't want to
paste down the original material.
