Ongoing Art Classes with Maureen Brouillette

Acrylic Painting Escapes

Landscapes, Seascapes, Cityscapes and more

During this six week course, we will be using the world’s most versatile medium – acrylic paint. I will be discussing the characteristics of acrylics and how to use them in transparent, translucent and opaque applications. We will also play with a few other media in conjunction with acrylics such as drawing, collage, and caran d’ache. Central to all art, and very important in the class, are the issues of design and personal content, which we will explore in depth.

Although I will be doing a painting demonstration in each class, this is not a "paint along" class. We will each be working from our own personal photos, but I regard the photos as a starting point only. I will demonstrate how to re-arrange, alter and edit the original photo composition for the improvement and effectiveness of your design. Your personal selections and the application of your design ideas should move your painting to a higher level of composition and emotional content. In order to genuinely express yourself through your work, you need to create a more personal approach to the subject, and strive to make it your own.

All levels are welcome. See you in class!
